Kat Collins is a wine professional and freelance writer with a focus on wine and food, based in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania.
In addition to her wine studies, she has a Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts, with a minor in Psychology, 45 credit hours towards Master of Arts in Art Therapy, including 400 internship hours. After an intensive internship, while going to school full-time and working full-time, she took a break from school to work at a winery.
In addition to her psychology studies, Kat also studied cheese over the years with the intent of opening her own cheese shop someday. While that plan was tabled for various reasons, she discovered that cheese knowledge translates into wine knowledge. The premises are similar…taste, scent, terroir, aging, and so on. It was a natural fit and from there, her wine world exploded. After a year of working at the winery as a tasting room associate, she realized that she had finally found her calling…the wine industry. It felt like a perfect fit. She became the Office Manager/Tasting Room Manager, and as they say, the rest is history.
In 2016, Kat completed Wine & Spirits Education Trust Level 2 with Merit and she is currently in Level 3, expected to be completed May 2018. Her goal is to become a Master of Wine. She was a contributing writer to American Winery Guide. She has participated in wine festivals, wine dinners, wine pairings, wine tastings, wine fundraisers, and more.
Kat attended a marketing Pennsylvania wines seminar by Stuart Pigott, founder of Rockstars of Wine America, in 2016. She is a published writer (print and digital) with over 20 years of blogging experience, as well as an accomplished artist. Kat also writes book reviews for OnlineBookClub.org.
